Man faces theft charges after phone incident at gas station | News

A man faces theft charges after he went into the Shell station in East Hagåtña at 3:19 am Saturday and reportedly demanded a phone that was on display in a secured case, presenting receipts and insisting the phone belonged to him.

When the worker told Onais Kossy, 22, that the phone was a display model that wasn’t for sale, Kossy took the phone, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in Superior Court.

The employee took the phone back from Kossy, who then tried to take a store basket before the employee was able to activate automatic door locks.

Kossy exited the store, approached the passenger side of silver Jeep parked outside and pulled out a machete before attempting to reenter the store, charging documents state.

Kossy was charged Saturday with:

  • Attempted theft as a misdemeanor.
  • Attempted criminal trespass as a misdemeanor.
  • Harassment as a petty misdemeanor.
